SCENE DESIGN
The Scene Design doctoral program is an interdisciplinary program in the field of arts, dedicated to various artistic practices within Scene Design. It is intended for artists and creators from different fields — architecture, applied arts and design, dramatic and audiovisual arts, music and performing arts, visual arts, as well as creators from many different fields — whose work is primarily concerned with Scene Design and scene space. Candidates who have completed undergraduate and master’s academic studies at a faculty in the fields of arts, technical sciences, or social sciences in Serbia or abroad, and who have earned a minimum of 300 ECTS credits with a grade point average above 8.00, are eligible to apply. The program lasts three years (6 semesters), during which students earn 180 ECTS credits and obtain the academic title Doctor of Arts – Scene Design. The study program is carried out through artistic, research-based, and theoretical-critical work in the field of Scene Design and is structured around three key areas:
- Scene Design in Theatre
- Design of Non-Theatrical Spectacle
- Scene Design as a Multimedia Art Form
The first three semesters focus on theoretical-critical and research work, while the remaining three focus on artistic research and mentoring. The doctoral artistic project focuses on artistic practices in Scene Design. Students work with renowned professors from Serbia and visiting professors from Serbia and abroad. The program is dedicated to developing the highest level of competencies for creating, developing, and realizing highly complex works of Scene Design. In this way, students develop the potential for artistic, research, and educational work in independent practice, cultural institutions, and educational institutions, particularly in the fields of Scene Design and scene space. The program enables students to connect professional practice and education. The program has established partnerships with numerous institutions, organizations, festivals, and projects, giving students opportunities for internships and potential professional engagement.
