Art masters’s studies
SCENE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
Scene Architecture and Design master’s program combines theory and practice. Through a range of creative processes, students can explore and develop their interests in design and technical production within artistic and theatrical practices of Scene Design and scene space. The program is intended for candidates who have previously completed undergraduate academic studies at a faculty in the fields of arts, technical sciences, or social sciences in Serbia or abroad, with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits. The program lasts one year (2 semesters), during which students earn 60 ECTS credits and obtain the academic title Master of Arts in Scene Design. The program is delivered through theoretical and practical courses. The first semester is dedicated to students’ work on conceiving, realizing, and presenting a collaborative artistic project in the field of Artistic Practices of Scene Design. The second semester focuses on Scene Design in Theatre, including two study visits—to the Creative Center in Krušče, Slovenia, led by Tomi Janežič, and to the center in Kelebija, led by Deneš Debrei. This semester is also dedicated to developing and realizing individual artistic master’s projects through elective courses and mentoring.
Throughout their studies, students are introduced to different aspects of the creative process in scene architecture and design, from conceptualization, artistic and technical development to the realization of the project itself. Through their master’s project, students can choose to specialize in the area that interests them most. They can apply the knowledge and experience they gain professionally as authors in scenography and costume design for theatre, film, and music videos; event creation (concerts, conferences, parties, fashion shows, etc.); art; design; technical production; cultural management; and related fields. During their studies, students can become familiar with the work of various cultural institutions and organizations and to present their work at significant artistic events. Professional internships are also available, depending on students’ interests. Many of our professors and teaching associates are established professionals in their respective fields and are open to collaboration and to supporting students’ practical work.
